Saturday Quiet Day “Epiphany: Made for goodness” 9:00 a.m. to Noon, Parish Hall, on Spring Street, behind Grace Church, Amherst, Massachusetts In Epiphany, we pray that we will shine with the radiance of Christ's glory. Yet many of us struggle with what Archbishop Desmond Tutu calls “the demon-fear of not being good enough.” What holds us back from accepting our essential goodness? What spiritual insights and practices can help us to re-claim it? Using passages from Scripture and from Made for Goodness, a book by the Archbishop and his daughter Mpho Tutu, we will explore what Jesus meant when he asked us to be “perfect” (Matthew 5:48), and the possibility that human beings are “not sinners in need of saving but saints in need of seeing.” This retreat is open to everyone. |

Keynote address for Episcopal Church Women, Diocese of Connecticut “I Just Can't Stop Loving You: Reclaiming the Sacredness of Creation” 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., held in Plantsville, Connecticut When the entertainment and distraction of virtual reality tempt us to disconnect from the natural world, why does God persist in luring us outside? In the face of dire news about God's Creation, from species extinction to global warming, how does God prevent us from sinking into despair and empower us to act? What is the particular role that women can play in healing the Earth, and how can working to heal the Earth help to heal our souls? Margaret Bullitt-Jonas will address these questions in her keynote address, offering a Christian perspective on Creation care. The 130th Annual Meeting and Luncheon of the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Connecticut will begin at 9:00 a.m. with coffee, tea, and registration. The Service of Holy Eucharist starts at 10:00 a.m., followed by a brief business meeting. Margaret's keynote address will begin at 11:15 a.m. Lunch is at 12:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Aqua Turf in Plantsville (Southington), CT. Advance registration is required for lunch ($18).
